Chapter 8 - The Law of Love

 It's been a little hard in this book when I don't think we are the church he is describing.  We (the Lutheran church as a group) doesn't jump to change with the trends.  We might be 20 years behind the trend but our changes are slow and deliberate.  Definitely a temptation to make decisions on the numbers and to always get that +1, one more, mentality.

I think we get orthodoxy and I think we show orthopraxy and I believe we we're pretty okay in the orthostasis area.  (I didn't really know what all these words meant, just wanted to throw them out.)  😉

So how would you answer the questions on page 138 about St. Luke's?

I think our members understand their role in sharing the Gospel but just not always sure how to carry it out.  The key phrase for me in this chapter was "Every believer has a crowd to serve the Gospel to." (p 181)   How do we continue to grow in faith so we understand that every person we see today - from our spouse to our children to our neighbors to our coworkers to... - is someone that we can serve in love today?

Chapter 12 - The Law of Vision

 This was a difficult chapter to figure out exactly what he is talking about.  On p 195, he gets into 'parables, special calling and local impact.  I guess those all boil down (for me at least) to being ourselves.  Not trying to do things that really aren't us.  Not following someone else's program.  Steve should do what Steve has the ability to do.  Our community has a personality, and needs, and we need to love our neighbor in respect to those.  What else do you see here?
